Man struck, killed on GCP service road: Police

ASTORIA — A pedestrian was killed while trying to cross the Grand Central Parkway service road Monday morning, police said.

The unidentified victim was trying to cross the highway at 31st Street around 6:30 a.m. when he was struck by an oncoming car, according to investigators.

He was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital where he was declared dead, while the driver of the vehicle was taken to Astoria Hospital for observation, even though she had no injuries, police said.

There was no criminality suspected in the accident, police said.
