Head of Korean group honored for lifetime achivement

TimesLedger Newspapers

Kwanghee Kim, founder of the Flushing-based nonprofit the Korean American Family Service Center, was given a Lifetime Achievement Award last week by the New York Women’s Foundation. But while she is dedicated to her work, she was not so happy with the name of the award.

“I don’t think I’m that old yet,” Kim, 67, said. “I have a lot of work to do.”

Kim, a Korean immigrant who lives in Manhattan, founded her organization, which helps underprivileged women, children and teenagers, in 1989. She was honored by the foundation at its annual dinner Oct. 25 at Long Island City’s Riverview Restaurant and Lounge at 201 50th Ave.

Kim has a long history with the foundation. Not only did her center receive its first public grant from the group, but she now helps the organization choose nonprofits to give grants to every year.

“They are my sisters,” Kim said of the foundation. “We learn from each other.”

Kim has a full-time day job working as a chemist at Weill Cornell Medical College, but her nonprofit work came out of teaching Sunday school at her church, where she would see the children of single mothers and the struggles the women faced.

“I had in my mind I would do something for them,” she said.

Kim took the initiative to do it after her mentor, Dr. Tae Yong Lee, the first female attorney in Korea, encouraged her in 1989, saying she wanted the aid center she had set up for underprivileged women in Korea to expand.

But after Kim received the help of friends, her center would take a different approach. It started small, with a Christmas party every year at the church for single mothers.

“Some people accused me of being a family breaker, promoting single mothers” Kim said. “But the heck with it.”

The organization expanded from there. At first Kim worked out of Manhattan, but she opened a Flushing office in 1996 near Main Street and later moved all of the center’s operations there. Now the center offers domestic violence counseling, children’s programs, teen programs and a scholarship program for struggling mothers.

The center also provides volunteer training in both English and Korean, and Kim’s program has been used by other nonprofits. This training session includes basic information on domestic violence, family law, counseling protocol and resources where volunteers can direct those in need. Kim said she requires perfect attendance from those who take the course but ends the training with a fun day in Central Park.

“I’m trying to mobilize as many, many people as possible to get involved in this and enjoy themselves,” Kim said.

Kim’s organization can be found at kafsc.org.

차 원태 목사는 누구가 그보물을 훔쳤나 알려주시기 바랍니다 The owner is Korean Methodist Church and Institute,

Since his appointment, Rev. Cha group conspired to purge the elders and church officers, and assaulted Choir conductor and destroyed the church faith system. Eventually they hijacked it and have stolen the church assets, bathtub, etc. Rev. won tae cha group with the church money filed three 3 lawsuits against the innocent family, even charging his father and his beloved son as attempted mass murderers, greatly damaging them financially and emotionally through the trials for the three fake lawsuits, especially for the fake mass murder case. Are these Korean clergies Christians? Aren’t they mentally sick?

During 1990s, the church renovation time, Rev. Won Tae Cha was informed by the trustees that the valuable antique cast iron historic bathtub should be preserved. But Rev. Cha informed the trustees that it was thrown way by the workers. The trustees thought it was lost forever.
However now Rev. Won Tae Cha’s lawsuit (2000s)) for the bathtub evidenced that this historic item exists, may be in his own possession. He lied to the trustees.

For this historic church crimes and sins, Rev. Won Tae Cha, Rev. Sung Soo Hahn, Rev. Chul Woo Chang, brainwashed mobs, even Bishop Jeremiah J. Park and even Bishop Hee Soo Jung are largely responsible fostering their mass murder plots cheating Jesus, demonizing the innocents, without faithfully correcting the anti Christian ministries for over 20 years. How can you honor fake mass murder plotters, such as fake Columbia MBA Steve H. Park, Fake M.D. Sophie David, CUNY, Sei Chun, and Elders Dr. C. Kim? Dr Young Bin Choo, etc. Jesus said, “‘my house will be called a house of prayer, but you are making it ‘a den of robbers. Mat 21; 13. They created a den of Korean clergy robbers. Let us ask Rev. Won Tae Cha return the antique bathtub to the owner if he believes in God
These negligent clergies and members owe a public apology for their malicious brutal harassment to my beloved wife, my beloved son, me and all church members. All Korean Christians ought to try to recover this historic antique bathtub in honor of our Christian history in America and honor of our Korean heritage in faith. Let our Christians respectably find the national treasure for our posterities!!
God bless you all in Christ, .Chae S. Sone Csone@optonline.net

Who can liberate this historic Korean church from the thieves? WHY REV. ST. CLAIR A. SAMUEL AS DISTRICT SUPER DOES NOT FOLLOW CHURCH RULES? 1/11/2013

District super’s duty for the church¶ (401. Task—the task of super)

According to the church rules of District Super.
Rev. St. Clair A. Samuel as the District Superintendent should guide this historic Korean Methodist Church and Institute in good faith.

As he understands this church has been involved in the various criminal events under the leadership of Rev. Won Tae Cha group until the retirement of Rev. Chul Woo Chang, who victimized the innocent family in order for them to abuse the church assets and others.
1. On February 9, 2011, at the Charge Conference. C. Sone, a victim tried to reveal their crimes; District Super Rev. St. Clair A. Samuel stopped the abuse report, by ordering “Call police”. Rev. Chul Woo Chang did not oppose it. Why he covers up their church crimes? (5, 7)

2. On December 16, 20012, at the Charge Conference, the victim naturally asked Rev. Samuel to answer why he ordered “Call police” to stop the financial abuse report at the previous Charge Conference? (2)
3. The Superintendent did not answer but he said his attorney would contact me on the subject matter.
4. Background story is like this. Rev. Won Tae Cha had a teaching position at New York Theological Seminary for many years, while neglecting his own ministry for Korean Methodist Church and Institute, manning with his own supporters following sudden illegal purge of the elders and other church officers. 차목사는한국일보 12/13/2000 에는 "숙청은 교회개혁" 이라고 선전. He was a regular broadcaster for Radio Seoul, with support of Korea times and other media in the naive Korean immigrant community, reflecting a corrupt ministry for them; further adding up lawsuits accusing the father and his beloved as the attempted mass murderers to hijack the church. It is nothing but demonstration of UMC corruption with inept bishops and so on.

This church is still under the control of his group and no one tries to recover the multimillion $ stolen antique bathtub of this historic church.
Only not-yet-Americanized Korean believers could speak out for the recovery from the church thieves. One day, Korean government leaders should actively involve in the recovery of this national treasure.

5. According to Bishop Marin D. McLee, (1/8/2013) Rev. Samuel is going to leave his position as of July 1, 2013 after two years’ service as DS.
6. To date, his task seems to have been covering up the church troubles of this historic Korean Methodist Church and Institute if he does not correct the shames before his departure.
7. He should audit the financial mismanagement since
Rev. Won Tae Cha to the Rev. Chul Woo Chang’s retirement. (6)
8. He should have corrected the abuse of the church
finances for their fake lawsuits against the innocent church members in order to steal the fund.
9. Especially they financed with the stolen church
money for the criminal trials of the father and his beloved son for many years, falsely charging them as the attempted mass murderers which initiated by Rev. Cha group against them and Rev. Chul Woo Chang supported their abuse of the church money.
10. Their actions are nothing but Christian sinners’ and criminals’ in Jesus masks.
11.Why Bishop Jeremiah J. Park did not take any
actions to correct the clergy crimes while Rev. Won Tae Cha serving as his cabinet member?
12. According to the rules of District super,
Rev. Samuel neglected his duty as the DS to date, covering up the church officers’ financial abuses.
13.The rules seem to suggest that Rev. Samuel should
finish his duty, cleaning up the criminal cases at Korea Methodist Church and Institute restoring the abused fund and honorable historic name of Korean Methodist Church and Institute at least as the first step as he has been paid for his duty as the District Super.
14. If not, Jesus is cheated again by smart guys. (3, 8)
15.Let us pray God that they would follow the teachings of the Bible to keep our churches clean in Jesus name. Please share this message, as food for thought with other leaders to restore our honor as Christians.
16. Question is: What is the Christian morality for our churches?
17. Is there any valid rules for UMC clergies without expelling them?

Rev. Yong Bo Lee:

Please remind Rev. Yong Bo Lee the antique bath tub belongs to Korean Methodist Church and Institute. The church could claim as she is the owner. But nobody among the church leaders claims its ownership. Is the church empty headed?
Or all of them are owners of the stolen good.
Please remind Rev. Lee to explain the case to the
American public or the church leaders in Korea.
