U.S. Rep. Bob Turner (R-Kew Gardens) has announced the upcoming opening of registration for the Home Energy Assistance Program this year. The deadline is Jan. 3.
HEAP is a federally funded program that provides heating benefits to supplement a household’s annual energy cost. HEAP also provides emergency assistance for households in a heat or heat-related energy emergency.
Additionally, HEAP assists with furnace repairs and/or replacements for households with inoperable heating equipment. You can visit otda.ny.gov/programs/heap/ for more information. You can also see if you are eligible by completing a HEAP screening at mybenefits.ny.org.
