RIDGEWOOD — A Ridgewood man and a Brooklyn resident were arraigned on attempted grand larceny, attempted criminal possession of stolen property and other charges after they allegedly ransacked a car and tried to steal a shovel and coffee bean set, a spokeswoman for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.
Jose Hernandez, 37, of 352 St. Nicholas Avenue in Ridgewood and Samuel Lopez, 24, of 399 Linden St. in Brooklyn, allegedly pulled down the passenger rear window of a car in front of 16-65 Palmetto St. in Ridgewood and entered the car between 2 a.m. and 2:25 a.m. Jan. 12, according to the criminal complaint.
Lopez was allegedly seen rummaging through the trunk of the car while Hernandez exited the vehicle with a yellow shovel and coffee bean set before putting the items on the ground walking down the street, the complaint said.
Hernandez and Lopez were arraigned Jan. 13 on charges of attempted grand larceny, attempted criminal possession of stolen property, possession of burglar’s tools, petit larceny, criminal mischief and unauthorized use of a vehicle before Queens Criminal Court Judge Gene Lopez, who set bail at $2,500, the spokeswoman said.
