A Jamaica man was convicted Friday of not only gunning down a teen nearly five years ago but also of robbing another man at gunpoint months later, the Queens district attorney said.
Christopher Chisholm, 23, of 188 Liberty Ave., faces up to 75 years to life in prison on several charges, including second-degree murder, attempted murder, burglary, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child when he is sentenced next month, according to DA Richard Brown.
Chisholm and another man who has not been arrested allegedly opened fire into a backyard filled with people and killed a 17-year-old young man, Brown said.
“The defendant has been convicted of fatally shooting an intelligent young man with plans for college and breaking into a residence and assaulting its owner. Such crimes call for lengthy prison sentences to ensure that justice is served and society is protected,” he said in a statement.
Chisholm and the unapprehended man came to the residence at 103rd Avenue and Farmers Boulevard in Hollis April 17, 2006, and shot randomly into the crowd that was gathered in the backyard, the DA said. One of the bullets fatally hit 17-year-old Nathaniel Davis in the stomach, according to Brown.
On June 30, 2006, Chisholm and Anthony Lalor, 24, of Harlem, broke into the Jamaica home of Amadou Diallo, 37, and encountered the owner, Brown said. They viciously beat him with a handgun and strangled him into unconsciousness with a cord, causing lacerations to Diallo’s head, arm and finger, which required staples and stitches, according to Brown.
Lalor pleaded guilty to burglary five months later and was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison, Brown said.
Queens Supreme Court Justice Gregory Lasak scheduled a sentencing date for Feb. 23, the DA said.
