BROOKLYN — A Jamaica cab driver was arrested Monday for allegedly raping and robbing a passenger last spring, police said.
Gurmeet Singh, of Highland Avenue, was arraigned on several charges, including rape, robbery and assault for the May 6 incident, according to investigators.
Around 6 a.m. that day, Singh was driving the 26-year-old victim near Rodney Street and South 1st Street when he held a knife and raped her, police said.
He then allegedly stole her phone and $20 in cash before dropping her off and fleeing the scene, according to police.
The victim, who was asleep during parts of the attack, was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated for lacerations, investigators said.
