ROCKAWAY PARK — Police responded to a motor vehicle accident in a parking lot, at 107-10 Shore Front Pkwy. in Rockaway Park, Monday to find a 43-year-old victim unconscious underneath a van.
Emergency responders brought the man to St. John’s Hospital, where Martin Romero, of Brooklyn, was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to the NYPD, the man was pinned underneath a Ford E250 van as it was getting jump-started when the operator of the vehicle pushed the gas pedal.
There was no apparent criminality in the case, police said.
