Landing gear kicks in at nick of time over JFK

JAMAICA — Passengers aboard TAM Flight 8078 from Rio de Janeiro got the scare of their lives as their plane prepared to land at John F. Kennedy International Airport last Thursday, the New York Post reported.

According to reports, the jet’s front landing gear appeared to be disabled as the plane approached the airport.

Crew members readied passengers for a rough landing, but seconds before touchdown, the landing gear righted itself and the plane landed smoothly, the paper reported.
