ELMHURST — After a man allegedly sexually assaulted a young girl in Elmhurst earlier this month, police have released a sketch in the hopes the public can help catch him.

At about 6:30 p.m. Oct. 1, a man was riding a black mountain bike with a black seat bearing red stripes near Whitney Avenue and Broadway.

The man, described as white between the ages of 35 and 45 and about 6 feet 2 inches tall, approached an 11-year-old girl who was also riding a bike, police said.

The man asked for the girl’s help in repairing his bike, but then sexually assaulted her and rode away, the NYPD said.

The girl was not injured, but those with information should contact NYPD’s Crimestoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), visiting its website at nypdcrimestoppers.com or texting 274637 (CRIMES) and entering TIP577.
