Rockaway Beach driver hits pole with car, dies

ROCKAWAY BEACH — A 33-year-old Rockaway Beach man struck a pole not far from his home Saturday and later died at the hospital, police said.

Anthony Luster, of Beach 84th Street near Beach Channel Drive, had been driving a Lincoln Navigator eastbound on the Rockaway Freeway near Beach 84th Street when he had his ultimately fatal accident, police said.

Luster was found at around 6:15 a.m. and was taken to Jamaica Hospital Center, police said, and was later pronounced dead on arrival.
