More than 100 firefighters responded to a two-alarm blaze in Jamaica in an apartment above an African jewelry shop Friday afternoon, according to fire officials.

One firefighter was taken to North Shore-LIJ Health System to be treated for minor injuries, a spokesman for the FDNY said. No civilians were hurt in the blaze, which authorities say started on the second floor of a 50-by-100-foot frame building on Jamaica Avenue near 188th Street.

Firefighters initially got the call about the fire at about noon, and by 12:35 p.m. the fire was declared under control.

Officials said the cause of the blaze has not yet been released.
