Police shot and killed a man who pulled a fake gun on police officers in Ridgewood Saturday night, according to the NYPD.

Two undercover detectives were arresting a suspected drug dealer near the corner of Gates and Seneca avenues around 10:45 Saturday when the shooting victim, whom police have not identified, arrived on the scene in a livery cab, pulled a pellet gun out of his waistband and pointed it at the officers, police spokesman Paul Browne said.

The officers fired six shots, striking the man three times in the leg and once in the torso, according to Browne. The victim was taken to Wyckoff Hospital where he was pronounced dead, he added.

“This was each detective’s first police-involved shooting,” Browne said. “Witnesses said that the detectives had their police shields displayed.”
