An elderly woman was struck by a car that crashed into a store on Linden Boulevard in St. Albans Thursday afternoon, a spokesman for the FDNY said.

Fire officials said a call came in at about 1 p.m. about the accident at 205-02 Linden Boulevard near Francis Lewis Boulevard.

Four people were taken to Jamaica Hospital, and the woman who was hit was in serious condition, the FDNY spokesman said. A second person was listed in serious condition, while two other people with minor injuries were also taken to the hospital.

A man at Village Unisex Barber Shop next door to the crash who declined to be named said the driver of the car was one of the people taken away in an ambulance.

In addition, two people with minor injuries were treated at the scene.

The car had to be removed from Sunrise Check Cashing, and the city Department of Buildings was on scene checking the structural stability of the shop as well as Lucky Star Chinese Food Next Door, according to fire officials.

The man inside the barbershop said the woman who was hit had been trapped underneath the car and several good Samaritans had helped to get her out.
