‘Braddock Boys’ comes to Queens

By Tatiana Castellanos

The Floral Park Historical Society is featuring a short documentary film produced by Mary Umans called “The Braddock Boys.”

The film is based on a group of men who reminisce on their childhood and where they grew up, which was in Braddock Park, Queens.

“What inspired me to do the film was the friendships that have endured over half a century and the freedom that the boys enjoyed creating their own fun in that long-ago era,” said Umans.

At this free event, cast members Joe Jakubauskas, Ritchie Pfeiffer and Ray Fox will make appearances to talk about the friendship amongst the Braddock Boys.

The Floral Park Historical Society welcomes anyone who is interested, especially any member of the neighborhood surrounding Braddock Avenue — renamed Breininger Park — and/or Braddock Park.

The event will take place April 7 at 2 p.m. at the Floral Park Centennial Hall, at Tulip and Carnation avenues.
