A 63-year-old man died Tuesday after emergency responders found him severely burned when they responded to a fire inside a Floral Park home, police said.

Firefighters discovered the man, whose identity was not immediately released, in the attic of a home on 268th Street after receiving calls around 8:17 a.m., according to the New York Police Department.

The man suffered severe burns throughout his body and was pronounced dead at nearby North Shore-LIJ Health System, police said.

The blaze charred the siding along the right side of the house near an attic window and firefighters doused the home with water at about 9:30 a.m. Neighbors at the scene, who did not want to be identified, said the man was alone at the time of the fire and appeared unconscious as he was carried out on a stretcher.

Police said fire marshals were investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
