Legislators in Queens want a murder that took place a year ago in LeFrak City to finally be solved and are asking residents to come forward with any information that can help lead to the perpetrator’s capture.

City Councilman Daniel Dromm (D-Sunnyside) and state Sen. Jose Peralta (D-East Elmhurst) held a news conference last Thursday to decry the unsolved murder of Theodore Malcolm Greene, who was shot and killed by an unknown person in front of 98-25 Horace Harding Expwy. the morning of April 20, 2012.

The person responsible is still be at large.

“We have not forgotten that the individual responsible for the murder of Theodore Greene is still roaming our streets,” Dromm said. “We will continue to work together as a community to make sure that the killer is finally brought to justice.”

Greene graduated from Monsignor Scanlon High School in the Bronx, where he led the basketball team to the Varsity C championship in 2002, according to his obituary on the J. Foster Phillips Funeral Home website. He went on to graduate from Bethune Cookman University in May 2009 with a degree in biology.

“To put Theodore Greene’s killer away, we need your help,” Peralta said. “We need anyone with information to step forward. As a community, we need to denounce gun violence and come together and help police however we can.”

Dromm and Peralta announced $2,000 in private donations to anyone providing information leading to the arrest of Greene’s murderer has recently been secured, in addition to the $22,000 reward listed on Crimestoppers. That brings the total reward to $24,000.

Of the $2,000 in private donations, Dromm is contributing $1,000, Peralta obtained $500 from the Bogopa Service Corp. and another $500 was pledged by an anonymous donor.

“It is up to our community to do everything it can to help the NYPD help catch the killer,” Dromm said. “By increasing the reward amount, we are sending a strong message that we are not giving up on our search.”

Anyone with information about Greene’s murder was asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
