A man in his 30s suffered second-degree burns to his torso and arm at an Astoria metal working shop Tuesday morning, a spokesman for the FDNY said.
Firefighters and EMS were called to Empire Metal Finishing, at 24-69 46th St., at 10:12 a.m. on a report of a man burned, the spokesman said.
Empire Metal Finishing, established in 1906, specializes in the restoration of items like lighting fixtures, antiques, custom lighting and chandelier wiring, as well as restoring religious items, according to its website.
Fire officials said the man was taken to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition.
The man had been waxing a vehicle, the Breaking News Network reported.
