Police hunting for suspect in western Queens bank robberies

MIDDLE VILLAGE — Police were looking for a suspect who tried to rob three western Queens banks last year, the NYPD said..

In each case the suspect entered a bank and passed a demand note to either a teller or a victim. Afterward, the suspect fled.The first incident occurred July 17, at 3 p.m. at the Amalgamated Bank, at 78-01 37th Ave. The victim complied with the demand note.

Then at approximately 5:50 p.m. Aug. 10, the suspect allegedly attempted to rob from a victim at the Chase Bank, at 74-03 Metropolitan Ave, but the victim walked away from the bank and the suspect left with nothing.

On Aug. 20, at around 1:52 p.m., the suspect allegedly robbed the HSBC Bank at 22-15 43rd Ave.The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall black male in his 30s who weighs about 200 pounds. In the last incident at the HSBC bank, he was wearing a white striped shirt, jeans, sunglasses and a blue baseball hat.Members of the public with information regarding any of these incidents are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
