East Elmhurst – A 28-year-old father was in the custody of the Memphis Police Department the day after he allegedly took off with his four-year-old daughter from an East Elmhurst coffee shop, police said.

On June 21 around 2 p.m., Giovanna Beck was with her mother and biological father, Michael Beck, at a Dunkin Donuts at 83-04 Astoria Boulevard when he asked the mother if he could go to the car to give his daughter a present, police said.

Beck then allegedly took the child and left in a white Chevy car driven by an unidentified woman, police said.

The following day, the NYPD released a statement saying that Beck was in police custody in Memphis, Tenn. and awaiting extradition procedures and his daughter had been located and was in good health. Police said the female driver was not in custody and the investigation was ongoing.
