Nearly four months after beginning its search, the Queens Theatre has picked its new leading lady.

On Thursday, the theater’s board of directors announced Taryn Sacramone will step into the role of managing director.

“We are delighted that Taryn is joining the Queens Theatre as our new director. She possesses an exciting and remarkable vision for the future of arts programming in Queens. Her arts management experience will be invaluable in making our vision a reality,” Frances Resheske, president of the board, said in a release. “Taryn’s passion for quality and diverse programming is unwavering.”

Sacramone comes to the Queens Theatre from the Astoria Performing Arts Center, where she served as executive director for eight years

“I have been invested in the advancement of the arts in Queens for a long time and am honored and thrilled to have this new opportunity,” Sacramone said in a release. “I look forward to working with the Queens Theatre board of directors and staff to continue to grow one of the borough’s most exceptional cultural institutions.”

In her new position, Sacramone will oversee theater operations, fund-raising and marketing. She is expected to begin working at the Queens Theatre in August.

Sacramone is a graduate of Kenyon College in Ohio and studied abroad at St. Catherine’s College at Oxford University. After graduation, she moved to New York to study acting at the Atlantic Theater Company. She lives in Queens with her husband and son.
