FAR ROCKAWAY — A young woman was robbed of her cellphone by three teenagers while riding the Rockaway Shuttle train last month, police said.

Authorities described the suspects as black, 16- to 18-years-old and about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10. They came upon the 24-year-old woman riding the train, took her cellphone and tried to run away as it stopped at the Beach 36th Street subway station in Far Rockaway, police said.

A 20-year-old man tried to stop the robbers, but they threw him on the ground as they left the train, police said. The would-be crime stopper received minor injuries, police said.
