Man charged in five church break-ins: Queens DA

SOUTHEAST QUEENS — A Brooklyn man was arrested and charged with pilfering more than $7,000 worth of items he allegedly amassed during a week-long spree at several churches, the Queens district attorney said.

David Spencer, 34, was arraigned Saturday on charges of burglary, criminal mischief and grand larceny after he allegedly broke into four Queens churches and unsuccessfully attempted to break into a fifth between July 10 and July 16, the DA said.

Authorities said Spencer allegedly broke into United Apostolic Lighthouse Church, Harvest Revival Baptist Church, Redemption Holy Tabernacle Church, Rehoboth House of Praise and Grace Moravian Church.

The unholy haul included two music keyboards he allegedly pawned off in Brooklyn, as well as a computer, a movie projector and a sound-system amplifier, according to the DA.

He was ordered held on a $40,000 bail and is due in court Aug. 2, the district attorney said.
