Man followed, punched woman in Woodhaven: Police

WOODHAVEN — A Woodhaven man was arrested and charged with assaulting a 23-year-old woman, the Queens district attorney’s office said.

Suresh Bhairo, 25, of Woodhaven, allegedly approached the woman from behind last Sunday at about 10 p.m. while she was at the intersection of 81st and Myrtle avenues, according to authorities.

He then allegedly grabbed her by the hair and placed both of his hands around her neck, according to the criminal complaint provided by the district attorney’s office. He also allegedly punched the victim in the face, the DA’s office said.

According to police, Bhairo allegedly said, “I followed her because I thought she was hot, and she was walking fast. I was losing sight of her, so I ran up to her.”

Bhairo also allegedly masturbated in public at a local hospital after the first incident, according to police. Bhairo was charged with assault, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, public lewdness and harassment, according to the DA.
