Detective, assistant DA get into fight with cops in Astoria: Court documents

ASTORIA – An NYPD detective and an assistant Queens DA were arrested Saturday after getting into a scuffle with on-duty police officers, according to a criminal complaint filed by the DA’s office.

The detective, Samir Gonsalves, and the woman, Jacqueline Rizk, were allegedly intoxicated and arguing at 10:15 a.m. on Steinway Street in Astoria, according to the complaint. When police officers tried to calm them down, Gonsalves allegedly pushed and wrestled one officer to the ground, the complaint said. As the cops tried to handcuff him, Rizk allegedly jumped on a cop’s back, the complaint said. They both face charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and harassment, according to the DA, while Rizk faces an additional charge of obstructing governmental administration. Rizk was placed on leave, the DA said. They both face up to a year in jail if convicted.
