A truck fire shut down traffic along the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge Friday morning, fire officials said.

The flames started emanating from the back of a tractor trailer on the bridge’s lower level around 11:08 a.m., prompting authorities to temporarily suspend traffic on the entire bridge, the Fire Department said. No injuries were reported.

The fire was extinguished soon after, but the incident was ongoing as of 12:30 p.m. Friday with the lower level still closed, officials said.

Eyewitness photos posted on Twitter showed a heavy cloud of black smoke flowing up from the bridge, which connects Queens to Manhattan at 59th Street.
