JAMAICA — A 30-year-old man shoved a sixth-grade girl to the ground in Jamaica and threatened her Monday morning while on she was on way to MS 216 in Fresh Meadows, police and education officials said.

The 10-year-old girl was walking along 168th Street near Archer Avenue in Jamaica when the alleged attacker pushed her down to the ground, the NYPD said. The man allegedly threatened the girl, according to the city Department of Education, although police did not reveal what he said.

The girl then went on to MS 216 in Fresh Meadows, where she reported the alleged attack to school officials, the DOE said.

The officials then contacted the girl’s parents and the NYPD, which as of Monday afternoon were still searching for the alleged attacker.

The school will be providing counseling for the 10-year-old, DOE said.
