Worker dies at Astoria construction site: Neighbors
By Rebecca Henely

A construction worker died Thursday after neighbors said he fell about 10 feet into a pit at a site in Astoria.

The accident occurred at 45-11 Broadway. The worker, whose name and age have not yet been released by the NYPD, was taken to Mt. Sinai Queens Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to BNN.

Neighbors said they had never had any problems with the current owners and workers at the construction site.

“You don’t think about going to work and dying,” said Nick Mitchell, a family friend of the owners of Lavell’s Admiral’s Club on the same block and saw the worker after the fall. “It’s tough. Sad. Very sad.”
