FLUSHING — The police were asking for the public to help identify a suspect wanted for allegedly stealing cellphones and other small items last year.

The heavyset man was caught on surveillance cameras at two separate locations last fall. He is described as a casually dressed Hispanic man in his 30s, standing around 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing between 220 and 300 pounds.

In five separate incidents between July and November, he allegedly snatched cellphones, money and a purse from locations in the downtown area.
