City Councilman Ruben Wills (D-Jamaica) won a second term in City Hall Tuesday.

Wills earned 95.2 percent of the votes with 69 percent of precincts reporting in Tuesday’s race, handily defeating Unity Party candidate Mireille Leroy, who pulled in 4.8 percent, according to preliminary numbers from the Associated Press.

Wills was first elected to the District 28 seat covering South Jamaica and parts of Jamaica, South Ozone Park and Richmond Hill in 2010 after the death of Councilman Thomas White, Jr. He was elected again the following year to serve out the remainder of White’s term.
