Pedestrian killed after hit by car near JFK: Police

SPRINGFIELD GARDENS — A 28-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a car crossing Rockaway Boulevard early Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The man, who had not been identified, was crossing near the intersection at Farmers Boulevard around 6:20 a.m. when he was hit by a 2006 Subaru Impreza travelling east on Rockaway Boulevard, police said.

He was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The NYPD said the driver of the Subaru stayed at the scene of the accident and the investigation was ongoing.

The man that was struck and killed in the vehicle accident name is Erik Johnson and he was 24--not 28. The family is deeply distraught and saddened by the tragic events.
