Today’s news:

Church needs to enter the 21st century

TimesLedger Newspapers

With the announcement by Pope Benedict XVI that he will be resigning as head of the Roman Catholic Church at the end of February due to personal reasons, it is now time for the College of Cardinals to elect a pope that will be more moderate in views, especially regarding allowing priests to marry.

There is no reason why priests should not be allowed to marry. In other Christian denominations, clergy are permitted to be married, so why shouldn’t Catholic priests be allowed also? If a priest is married, how would that affect his ability to be a leader of his congregation?

It would not be detrimental at all. Priests are human like all of us, and while they have taken a vow of celibacy, they still have feelings and emotions. It is time for the Catholic Church to stop burying its head in the sand like an ostrich and come back to reality.

The reality is that it is time for the church to be more moderate in all of its teachings. We are in the 21st century and we must be realistic.

More dopeyness from the dopey left leaning former schoolteacher. It has also been a longstanding tradition that once school teachers retire they are paid a pension. Lets join the 21st century and from here on in deny teachers a pension at retirement and furthermore the government should immediately stop paying those retired teachers currently receiving a monthly pension.

Lou, You are obviously more interested in seeing your irelevant ravings in print than addrerssing inteligently any subject at hand.

What in the world has your rant have to do with the suggestion that Priests should marry..as once they did.? Put a person into an unatural dictated and restrictred life and they will of cource behave unaturally. A married priest can more natually empathise with their parishioners and therefore a wiser counsel.

Nicholas Z (Zizelis) and others like you are self loathing ,secular humanists ,left leaning liberals who live in a world where up is down and black is white. Of course my comments were ridiculous. So are the comments of left leaning Amato. People like you would also like to see women priests and homosexual priests and probably priests who are married to farm animals. For the sick ,secular humanist left wing Democrat there is no perversion out of bounds. For people so demented, the ability to comprehend the gift of celibacy is beyond their intellectual capabilities!

Dear Lou,
So pleased and proud that you figured out that the Z stood for Zizelis. I did it just for you. Your latest blab is a hoot. Women priests: great idea. Homosexual priests: old news. But I love your bit about priests marrying farm animals. How long have you been fantisizing about maritiage and sex with farm animals?
