JAMAICA — A suspect’s refusal to pay a subway toll led to his arrest for an alleged rape, police said.

According to police, Kenny Campbell, 30, was observed jumping a turnstile at the subway station at Archer Avenue and Parsons Boulevard Feb. 19.

An officer on patrol arrested Campbell and, upon further investigation, learned that he was wanted in connection with a rape that occurred in August 2012.

In that crime, the suspect broke into a victim’s home, strangled her with an electrical cord and raped her.

Campbell is being held and will be charged with rape and theft of service, police said.
