SPRINGFIELD GARDENS — A 65-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run on Rockaway Boulevard last week.

Carlos Carlo was crossing the four-lane road near 137th Avenue, heading east in the direction of his home, around 12:30 Friday morning when he was hit by a dark-colored sedan, police said.

The car fled the scene before police arrived and Carlo was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Other articles are saying that the driver did in fact stop, and no charges have been filed. If he did in fact leave the scene, that's horrible. But would you please verify with the police that he left the scene? That's a pretty major detail to get wrong.
