Pedestrian hit by cab in Astoria expected to survive: NYPD

A 27-year-old man who was struck by a livery cab early Sunday morning in Astoria is expected to survive, the NYPD said.

The pedestrian was crossing against the signal at a crosswalk at the corner of Steinway Street and 31st Avenue at around 12:40 a.m. when he was hit by the 2012 Toyota Camry, police said.

He was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition, but is expected to make it through his injuries, according to cops. He suffered a broken pelvis and head trauma, the NYPD said.

The driver stayed at the scene of the crash and no charges were filed, police said.
