Van driver and nine others injured in Flushing bus collision: NYPD

By Kelsey Durham

Ten people were taken to the hospital Friday night after a van collided with an MTA bus on Northern Boulevard in Flushing, the NYPD said.

Police said a 60-year-old man driving a 2009 Ford van was traveling east on Northern Boulevard just before 10 p.m. when he allegedly ran a red light and struck a Q12 bus making a left turn from Northern Boulevard onto Prince Street. The driver of the van was taken to New York Hospital Queens in Flushing with severe leg trauma, and nine other people — including the bus driver — were treated for minor injuries, police said.

The NYPD said all of those injured were expected to recover.

Police said no summons or charges were issued after the accident, but an investigation was ongoing.
