Cop arrested after choking girlfriend: NYPD

KEW GARDENS HILLS — An off-duty police officer was arrested after a physical confrontation with his girlfriend Sunday, the NYPD said.

Kenneth Avila, 42, allegedly pushed his girlfriend, pulled her hair and choked her during a dispute in her home at 8:30 a.m., police said.

He was later arrested just before 5 p.m. for criminal obstruction of breathing, according to cops.

Police said the woman had no visible injuries.
