Man charged with shooting girlfriend, 15, in South Jamaica

SOUTH JAMAICA – Police arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the murder of a teenage girl inside a South Jamaica house Wednesday night.

The suspect, Amin Abdullah, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

According to authorities, the suspect is accused of shooting his 15-year-old girlfriend once in the head with a revolver around midnight Wednesday at a home located on 106th Road near Ruscoe Street.

The district attorney said that a witness saw the couple arguing before the deadly shooting took place.

“(Abdullah) is accused of taking the life of a young girl who had her whole life ahead of her,” said Brown in a statement. “This case is another unfortunate example of the senseless gun violence that seems to more and more permeate our society.”

Brown said that the suspect allegedly told detectives at first that the teenager shot herself, but he later admitted that he shot the 15-year-old.

If convicted, Abdullah faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
