Shootings ricochet across boro streets

Queens has had its share of violence in the last few days.

In Springfield Gardens, U.S. marshals were shot at as they were trying to arrest a fugitive in a home Tuesday night, according to the Breaking News Network.

The marshals returned fire, injuring the suspect in the hand, BNN said.

It all started when federal authorities broke down a door at a home, at 175th Street and 144th Drive, around 11 p.m., the New York Post reported.

When the gunfire exchange ended, the alleged drug smuggler surrendered after tossing his gun, the newspaper said.

NYPD detectives were at the scene as backups.

The suspect was arrested. The Post said he was wanted on cocaine trafficking charges. .

No cops or marshals were injured during the incident.

In the meantime, detectives from the 110th Precinct have a person of interest, but have not arrested anyone in the stabbing death of 50-year-old Mukesh Patel, who died shortly after police found him collapsed on the floor of his Elmhurst residence with stab wounds to his chest last Friday, the NYPD said.

The Police Department said it was alerted at 3:10 p.m. and soon discovered the victim lying on the ground.

He was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, according to the NYPD.

Nor have police made any arrests in a trio of shootings across the borough this past weekend, which sent three to the hospital with gunshot wounds to the leg, the NYPD said.

The first bullet was fired around 2:08 a.m. Saturday, when the Police Department said it was called to Merrick Boulevard near 109th Road to tend to a 27-year-old man shot in the left leg.

The victim was brought to Jamaica Hospital and expected to survive, according to the NYPD.

Police said the suspected shooter fled in a white, four-door sedan.

About an hour and 20 minutes later, officers rushed to the corner of 10th Street and 40th Avenue, in Queensbridge in Long Island City, where a second 27-year-old had been shot in the right knee, police said.

The NYPD said he was brought to Cornell Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they did not have any information about the assailant.

And officers said they were called to Ridgewood at 11:30 p.m. Saturday after a 24-year-old woman was shot in her right ankle while walking near Madison Street and Cypress Avenue.

The victim was brought to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition, according to the 104th Precinct.

The precinct said it does not believe the 24-year-old was the intended target, but it was still investigating the shooting.
