Two killed in Springfield Gardens accident

SPRINGFIELD GARDENS — Two people were killed Thursday night in an accident when the driver of a car lost control of the vehicle and smashed into a light pole and then a tree in Springfield Gardens, said the authorities.

D’John Arias, 20, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer on North Conduit Avenue, according to NYPD, when he tried to enter the ramp to the Belt Parkway at about 10:45 p.m.

Arias lost control of the car and crashed in the vicinity of 181st Street, said the NYPD.

Police said the front seat passenger, Karim Carter, 19, was taken to Jamaica Hospital in serious condition where he was pronounced dead.

A 14-year-old male was transported to Long Island Jewish Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition with injuries to his legs.
