113th Precinct’s Marmara promoted to investigations

By Juan Soto

After 3 1/2 years in charge of South Jamaica’s 113th Precinct, Deputy Inspector Miltiadis Marmara was promoted and assigned to the Investigations Unit of the Queens South Patrol Borough.

“I will never say goodbye since I am still in Queens South,” Marmara wrote in a thank you letter sent to community members.

Marmara said Capt. Roderick Dantini will step up and serve as acting commanding officer.

The station house covers the neighborhoods of St. Albans, Hollis, Springfield Gardens, South Ozone Park, South Jamaica, Locust Manor and Rochdale Village.

“For the last 3 1/2 years it truly was my honor to work with the 113th Precinct community that I truly believe is the best in the city,” said Marmara.

As of Sept. 21, overall crime in the area had decreased by more than 6 percent compared to the same period last year.

“So much positive has been done, thanks to your friendship and commitment,” Marmara said in the letter. “I will have a lifetime of great positive memories of all good things we have done as officers and community together.”
