Police arrest suspect in Ridgewood cabbie stabbing

By Juan Soto

Police arrested a suspect in the violent stabbing of a livery cab driver in Ridgewood last week, authorities said.

According to the NYPD, Kenneth Suden, 41, allegedly stabbed the driver several times in the torso, arm and hands.

Cops said the driver was attacked about 1 a.m. last Thursday after he picked up the fare at Hemlock Street and Jamaica Avenue, in Brooklyn, and asked the victim to take him to 68-16 70th St., in Ridgewood.

While driving in the vicinity of 60-19 70th Ave. an argument ensued and the suspect, a Ridgewood neighbor, allegedly attacked the cabbie, police said.

The victim was able to free himself and asked for help, the NYPD said. The suspect sped off in the victim’s vehicle, a 2012 Toyota Camry, according to the police.

The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

Suden was charged with attempted murder, robbery, assault, grand larceny auto and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

“To hear of this brutal stabbing is a shock and utterly disheartening,” said state Sen. Joseph Addabbo (D-Howard Beach). “A livery cab driver doing his job, actually anyone doing their job, should not be the victims of meaningless violence.”
