Two more Flushing playgrounds to get city funds

By Alex Robinson

A week after Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a Flushing playground would be part of a citywide initiative to renovate neglected parks, the Parks Department confirmed two more playgrounds in the neighborhood have been slated for facelifts.

The Bland Playground and Maple Playground in Flushing are among 55 sites citywide which will get improvements including fence repair, painting, pathway work and horticultural improvements.

They will not be part of the initiative, which will completely reconstruct Bowne Playground along with 34 other parks and playgrounds, but they will receive significant repair work, the Parks Department said.
