Mid Village man dies in Glendale crash: NYPD

GLENDALE — A 46-year-old Middle Village man died after a tractor-trailer struck him as he crossed 80th Street near Cooper Avenue around 6 a.m. Thursday, the NYPD said.

The Police Department said it was called to the intersection at 6:07 a.m., where officers found Martin Srodin unconscious and unresponsive, with severe trauma to his body. Paramedics rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the NPYD said.

Cops said the 64-year-old man driving the tractor-trailer remained at the scene.

Officers’ preliminary investigation found the truck, which was traveling east on Cooper Avenue, turned left onto 80th Street, where its rear wheel hit Srodin, the NYPD said.

As of Thursday afternoon, police said the driver did not face any charges, but its collision investigation squad was still probing the accident.
