A southeast Queens man was arrested Tuesday following the vicious attack on an award-winning, gay journalist in Midtown Manhattan last week, police said.

Cops cuffed Leighton Jennings, a 24-year-old from St. Albans, on charges of assault, police said, as Randy Gener recovered at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan after he was brutally beaten early in the morning Jan. 17.

The NYPD said officers were called to the corner of 7th Avenue and 54th Street around 3 a.m. Friday where they found Gener — an openly gay writer, editor and artist — lying on the ground with severe head trauma.

Police said the suspect took off in a gray car with Mississippi license plates.
