The city is disciplining two Department of Sanitation employees after authorities said a plow they was operating struck a trash can Thursday night and launched the bin through a Forest Hills café window, injuring two people.

Police said two customers at Exo Café, at 70-20 Austin St., were hit by shards of glass when a trash can full of snow and ice hit the windowpane at 11:15 p.m.

Authorities brought a 36-year-old man and 27-year-old woman to the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System with minor injuries, according to the NYPD.

Officers said the plow accidentally hit the garbage bin and no arrest was made.

The city Department of Sanitation said it investigated the accident and is taking disciplinary action against the two employeesoperating the vehicle. The department will determine the exact nature of the discipline after it completes its investigation, according to Sanitation Chief Keith Mellis.
