Jamaica man shot and killed on Xmas: NYPD

By Sarina Trangle

Two separate Christmas Day disputes led to a 20-year-old man dying of a gunshot wound to the neck in Richmond Hill and a 24-year-old nursing a bullet to the leg in Jamaica Hospital, the NYPD said.

The Police Department said it was called to the corner of 126th Street and 89th Avenue in Richmond Hill at 2:34 p.m., where paramedics were tending to James Bryant, who was unresponsive and unconscious.

The 20-year-old South Jamaica resident was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Bryant was engaged in a verbal dispute before the gunfire broke out, the NYPD said. Police said he was shot once in the neck.

The NYPD said a suspect has been identified, but has not yet been taken into custody.

Hours earlier, police said they were called to a St. Albans street corner, where a 24-year-old man took a bullet to the right leg.

The NYPD said they were called around 4:38 a.m. when an argument on Merrick Boulevard and Selover Road led to gunfire.

The victim was brought to Jamaica Hospital, where he was expected to recover form non-life threatening injuries, the NYPD said.

Officers said police have identified a suspect, but no arrests have been made.
