South Jamaica man killed in morning blaze

A 64-year-old South Jamaica man was killed early Monday morning when a fire ripped through his home, police said.

The NYPD said the victim was rushed to Queens Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Also injured in the blaze was a 89-year-old woman, who was taken to Franklin General Hospital. She was listed in stable condition.

Authorities said a third person was injured in the fire but refused medical attention.

The fire broke out about 3:39 in a two-story frame house located near the intersection of 168th Street and 118th Road and it was declared under control a little after 5 a.m., a spokesman for the Fire Department said .

The FDNY spokesman said about 60 firefighters battled the fatal blaze in the one-family home.

The FDNY was investigating the cause of the fire.
